April is National play outside month! 

The spring time brings to mind images of awakenings and growth. So this month is the perfect opportunity to shake off the winter blues and turn over a new leaf. Whether you are feeling a little sluggish from time spent indoors. Or you are feeling a bit fluffy from holiday eating habits, the warm weather is excuse you needed to get outside and move your body! This month we have featured a variety of outdoor activities in the Greater Charlotte area. Look out, next month we might feature your hometown!

 

 

Festival Fun

  • Come-See-Me Festival, April 13th-15th: This frog themed festival has something for the entire family! This event kicks off with a parade through down town Rock Hill. Followed by food & brews, Live beach music (boasting the best beach bands in the state), games and races for the kids, and dancing and corn hole for Mom and Dad.   • Moo, Brew & 'Que Music Festival, April 15th-16th:  Burgers, Brews, BBQ and Music! This outdoor music festival showcases the very best the Queen City has to offer. Sip while you shop the artisan market. Do you have a pallet for hearty meats? Sample the burger and BBQ  contestants wares! But that's not all!   • SC Strawberry Festival, April 14th- May 2nd: This family friendly festival is a real crowd pleaser! From artisan markets to contests and  tournaments there is plenty of sun soaked entertainment to be had by all. Featuring live music and strawberry themed food vendors this festival  is sure to put a smile on your families faces. Follow the link for the full list of activities. 

 

Our favorite Hiking and Biking spots

  • Waterford Trail :  Enjoy this 1.5 mile segment of the Carolina Greenway trail system! This trail has a mixture of surfaces but it is perfect for anyway you and your family like to move. This trail loop brings you along the banks of the Manchester Creek and along scenic pedestrian bridges. Looking for a longer stroll? This trail has you covered! It is directly linked to the Wetland trail.
  • Baxter Village trail:  Looking put some miles on your sneakers? This trail is for you. 3.3 miles of winding woodland trails will eventually bring you to an overlook deck perfect for viewing the Catawba River. Once again this trail offers you the opportunity for a longer stroll. The Baxter Village trail is apart of a larger Carolina Thread trail system. 
  • Gold Hill Rail-Trail:  Take a trip back in time to North Carolina's mining past on this 2.2 mile trail. Admire the historic village land marks as well as the natural beauty of the area! You won't want to miss this one!
